Seasonal Concerts (2)

The most fun concert for me and a highlight of the year is The Wolverton light orchestras Christmas concert which is very interactive with quizzes, raffles and singing along with the Orchestra and choir. This is at Stantonbury Campus on 11th December.

I am busy preparing for a wedding blessing; a concert with my (professional singing) daughter on 17th December at St. Andrew’s Church Gt. Linford.

Seasonal Concerts

During the Christmas season I am performing in some concerts and hope pupils and friends will want to come along and enjoy some of these; if it “tickles your fancy”!

The first is with the Beds Symphony Orchestra Saturday the 26th Nov at the Beds Corn Exchange.
We are playing Bruch Violin Concerto; this is close to my heart - I love the music and I learnt this a few years ago for my Violin Diploma.
Elgar’s Cockaigne overture (Elgar one of my favourite composers).
Also Saint-Saëns organ symphony which is very exciting to play and listen too.

A musical day at Stowe

I visited Stowe School yesterday for The Bucks Music Festival which took place in the beautiful ornate music room.
The pupils played very confidently in the piano classes on the amazing grand piano and the adjudication was expertly put over.

In the break I walked around the gardens which had some of the tallest trees I have ever seen; temples and grottos with lit candles inside which added to the romantic atmosphere of the place.

I am now  looking forward to hear my pupils perform in the Two Mile Ash Orchestra and Choir at their Christmas concert and then hearing other  pupils play at the Milton Keynes Music festival.

Church Orchestra Amusements!

On Sunday I was directing from the piano the church orchestra we performed some good old traditional hymns greatly appreciated by the congregation. There was a funny incident when one of the younger members of the congregation asked to be allowed to choose one of the hymns and then in the heat of the moment stood up and conducted the orchestra!

We are a small ensemble/orchestra with 6 members but are looking for more especially wind and brass. We play on the first Sunday of the month at St. Andrew’s church, Great Linford the rehearsal is at 9am followed by the service at 10am.
